Lorica

Lorica is a bicycle lock for multiple disabled children whose physical constraints make it impossible for them to use small keys, while their mental constraints make it impossible to use locks which would require remembering a code. For these children we developed Lorica. The Lorica lock can be operated with two simple push-actions: To lock the bike, the user just pushes the big button. To unlock it, he simply inserts the key. This key has a unique form which fits the lock perfectly and is easy to use. An extra color-code indicates how the key ought to be inserted. In 2013 Lorica won a Cera-award and a working prototype was presented at the REVA-fair in Ghent, Belgium. Lorica is a co-creation of Elena Vloeberghen en Beatrijs Van Hoof.
