One of the main side effects of chemotherapy is a lack of appetite in the patient. This is caused by a change in the patient’s sense of taste. Our project focussed on the question of how design can improve the eating experience of chemotherapy patiënts. By interviewing and observing patients and by talking to a dietician at the oncology department and to José Van Mil, who wrote the book: ‘Healty cooking during chemotherapy’, we were able to analyse all aspects of the problem. We noticed that our solution had to be a simple one and one that would improve communication between the patient and their enviroment about this problem. The solution also has to make it easier for the patient to choose among different recipes.Another problem we had to solve is the changed eating pattren of the patient, who will now only eat small portions during different moments of the day, which does not match the schedule of the hospital. At the end of the project a lunchbox set with recipe cards, to improve the decisionproces between different recipes, was developed and presented with a stopmotion video in order to present our concept on a large scale and to create more of a debate about the problem.
